| The Professional Association, Inc. is located at 549 East Brambleton Avenue in Norfolk. It began on April 11, 1959 when African American physicians and dentists met to establish a professional building. with the hope it would be an asset to the community and facilitate the practice of medicine. Construction began in the Fall 1964 and was completed in August 1965. This is a one-story, 10,000 sq. ft. building with 15 suites, central air conditioning and heating, a laboratory, a drugstore, and a snackbar. It was built at a cost of $500,000. An additional 3,000 sq. ft. with 4 suites at a cost of $73,000 was later added. The medical building is owned by Drs. James Boyd, Joseph Cauthen, Rudolfo Cejas, Wilson Cobbs, Oswald Hoffler, William Hoffler, Eric Mitchell, George Peace, Lord Cecil Rhodes, George Alston, and Mr. Harold Vann. |
