Portsmouth, Virginia

This project focuses on three major Black theaters--Bland, Capitol, and Lyric theaters-- in Portsmouth during the mid 1920's to 1945, as part of the Black community.  It also attempts to revive the history of these three in the lives of their former patrons and future generations who desire to know about Portsmouth's African-American movie entertainment past.
